How to Downgrade iOS 27 / iPadOS 27 to 26.6.1 RC
- Make a backup first. Keep User's Data worked in our test, but flashing firmware always carries risk.
- Download the correct IPSW. Use the card above that matches your exact model/identifier.
- Connect the iPhone or iPad to your Windows PC with a reliable USB cable and open 3uTools.
- Open Smart Flash and choose Import Local Firmware.
- Select the downloaded iOS/iPadOS 26.6.1 RC (23G82) IPSW.
- Under Keep Data or Not, select Keep if you want to attempt the downgrade while preserving user data.
- Start the flash and keep the device connected until 3uTools reports Flashing completed successfully.
- Allow the device to boot and verify the installed iOS/iPadOS version and your data.
GSMUnlockLab verified test:
The Keep User's Data workflow was successfully completed on an
iPad 9 (iPad12,2).
3uTools finished the flash successfully and the user data remained on the device.
Do not start if 23G82 becomes unsigned.
Having the IPSW file is not enough:
Apple's signing server must still authorize the restore.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this an exploit?
No. This guide uses an Apple-signed Release Candidate restore image.
It works only while Apple continues signing build 23G82 for the selected device.
Are these files hosted by GSMUnlockLab?
No. The buttons point directly to Apple's firmware CDN
(updates.cdn-apple.com).
Can I downgrade without losing data?
In our test on an iPad 9 (iPad12,2), 3uTools Smart Flash completed the downgrade successfully
with Keep User's Data selected.
Because results can vary by model, firmware and device condition,
back up important data before flashing.
Can I restore a backup made on iOS 27 to iOS 26.6.1?
Generally, a backup made on a newer system version cannot be restored to an older system version.
Plan your backup strategy before downgrading.
Why do two different models sometimes have the same IPSW link?
Apple sometimes publishes one restore image that supports multiple closely related device identifiers.
This is expected when the filename itself lists those identifiers.
What if Apple stops signing 23G82?
The normal Finder/Apple Devices/iTunes restore will no longer be authorized.
Check the current signing status before downloading a 10–11 GB IPSW.
